My name is Michael Waters and I am running for the position of Tulare County Board of Education Trustee Area 5. My top priority has always been the children of Tulare County. I attended schools in Porterville and graduated from Monache High School. My children attended, and now my grandchildren attend, schools in Tulare County. I have an extensive background in education having served as a district level administrator, high school and middle school principal, and teacher in Visalia. I am well-equipped to tackle the educational challenges and opportunities in our county.

About Mike
I am a lifelong resident of Tulare County with an extensive background in education, working for Visalia Unified School District for over 20 years. I worked as a middle school teacher, high school teacher, high school varsity coach, learning director, assistant principal, and high school principal. I also served as a middle school principal and a District Office Area Administrator over secondary schools. Working for a large district in a variety of capacities with thousands of students and parents, has given me the experience and expertise to best serve the children and families of Tulare County. As a Tulare County Office of Education Trustee, I will always make decisions that provide all students with opportunities to succeed. I will actively seek input from you, the voters. I will make decisions which are fiscally responsible and sensible. I will support our schools and education staff with the resources they need to provide our children with the highest quality education. I will not forget who I am and where I live. My journey to obtain a quality education began by graduating from Monache High School. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Management from Fresno Pacific University and a Masters in Secondary Teaching from Chapman University. I have Secondary Teaching Credentials in Health Science, Social Science, Home Economics and Business along with an Administrative Services Credential.
